AGRICOM is a European project that helps farmers and food businesses produce their own renewable energy and share it with others in their area. The goal is to lower energy bills and make farms and rural businesses more independent from big energy companies.

AGRICOM will support 15 groups of farmers and businesses in the agrifood sector to create local energy communities. These groups will work together to produce and share clean electricity from sources like solar or other renewables.

An energy community is when citizens, farmers, businesses, and sometimes local authorities join together to: Produce renewable energy (like solar power) Use it for their own buildings Share extra electricity with others in the group This helps keep energy money inside the local community and makes everyone less dependent on energy companies.

Joining an energy community can: Lower your electricity bill Protect you from rising energy prices Make your business more competitive Let you invest together instead of alone Support climate-friendly agrifood business

You must apply with at least two farms or agrifood businesses. You can also include: Food processors or shops Cooperatives Local councils Other small businesses The project must be in: Catalonia (Spain) Flanders or Wallonia (Belgium) Greek islands Croatia Trentino (Italy)

AGRICOM experts will help you with: Choosing the right renewable energy system Getting permits Making a business plan Setting fair energy-sharing prices Legal paperwork Setting up the energy-sharing system And it’s free.

You will: Have a first meeting to understand your business and plans Share basic energy data (electricity use, roofs, land, etc.) Get step-by-step help to set up the energy community Learn from other business in your sector Get a plan so your energy community keeps running after the project ends

You just need to: Take part in meetings Share some basic energy and business data Work with the AGRICOM team Sign a simple commitment letter

No problem. You can apply alone and ask for matchmaking help. AGRICOM will help you find other businesses or local partners to join you.

AGRICOM will look at: How committed the group is How much renewable energy can be produced How much the project helps the local economy, people, and environment The best 3 projects in each country will be selected.

You will get an answer by the end of April 2026. You will also get feedback and help get connected with other similar projects if you are not selected.
